About Us |
The Institute for Mediterranean Studies, at Waseda University, was established for the purpose of studying various civilisations from antiquity to modern times that have flourished in the Mediterranean area - an area that covers the southern part of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. The primary targets of our research projects include history, philosophy, religion, literature, art, music and science in the ancient Graeco-Roman world, during the Byzantine period, the Renaissance as well as in modern times. |
